Five Generations of Craft
A Thousand Years of Carving
Master Gao Yingpo's craft is rooted in a carving family that has endured for a century in Quyang. The first generation, Gao Luoduo, was one of the celebrated “Two-and-a-Half Stonemasons” of the late Qing and early Republic, led the carving of Zhaozhou Bridge, contributed to the sculptural works of Beijing's Ten Great Buildings, and in 1915 won a silver medal at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition — bringing Quyang stone carving to world attention.
